The story of James Rodríguez, the Colombian national team’s number 10 who has captivated an entire country with his talent, will be brought to Netflix under the production services of Clover Studios.
The soccer player, who dazzled at the recent 2024 Copa América and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, will be featured in a docuseries already in production under the direction of renowned Colombian filmmaker Simón Brand.
James, the docuseries promises to offer an intimate and revealing look at the life and professional career of James Rodríguez, exploring previously unpublished details from his time with iconic teams such as Real Madrid CF and Bayern Munich, to his participation in the recent 2024 Copa América. It will also delve into the road he still has to travel in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

This initiative adds to Netflix’s commitment to great sports stories, including successful Latin American productions such as Sean eternas , as well as other notable biographies, including Ángel Di María: romper la pared , Neymar: el caos perfecto and Higuita: el camino del escorpión .
This is the first production announced by Clover Studios as a company. In April 2024, within the framework of the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival (FICCI), it announced its new production company seeking to boost the Colombian audiovisual sector locally and internationally. Its partners are Julio César Gaviria, Laura Franco, Simón Brand, and Daniel Eilemberg.
Likewise, James Rodríguez’s documentary series received approval to obtain the CINA (Audiovisual Investment Certificate) incentive, granted by the Colombian government and administered by Proimágenes Colombia.
